      Scholarship to study in India

    Government of India Scholarships

Every year the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, an autonomous organization under Ministry of External Affairs, Government
of India, offers a certain number of Government of India Scholarships to Uzbek nationals to pursue full time university courses in India.
Lal Bahadur Shastri Centre, Tashkent, administers the Scholarships Scheme on behalf of Indian Embassy. Full details
of the Scheme are available elsewhere in the website under the title: “Studying in India”.

    Studying in India

With nearly 300 universities and more than 12,000 university affiliated colleges, having a total enrolment of about 9 million students, India has one of the largest higher educational networks in the world.
Though the university institutions in India primarily cater to the higher educational needs of Indian students and the demand for seats, specially for professional courses like medicine, engineering and management, always remains unmet, more than 40,000 foreign nationals from about 100 countries are studying in India at any given time. The high quality of education provided at comparatively moderate fees, and low cost of living attract large number of foreign students to the country. (See box for list of Universities in India).
In addition, nearly 2,000 foreign students study in India under various Government of India scholarship schemes administered by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, New Delhi.

    Scholarships for Uzbek citizens.

Every year, Lal Bahadur Shastri Centre for Indian Culture (LBSCIC) offers a certain number of Government of India Scholarships
to the nationals of Uzbekistan to undergo various courses in Indian universities at undergraduate (BA, B.Sc., B.Com, BBM),
    postgraduate (MA, M.Sc, M.C.A, M.B.A etc.) and research levels (M.Phil & Ph.D.).
The scholarships generally cover the full tuition, admission and other compulsory fees payable to the university/college,
a monthly maintenance allowance and hostel rent/housing subsidy (together amounting to approximately US $ 110/- to US $ 130/- per month), annual book allowance, reimbursement of medical and approved study tour expenses etc.
However, the Scholarship schemes do not cover the cost of international airfare or internal travel, which has to be
