    Lal Bahadur Shastri Centre for Indian Culture organizes:
    Six-Week Diploma Course in Indian Studies (English Medium)
    (Mondays-Tuesdays, 16:00-17:30)
    Inauguration: October 6, 2008
     
    Objectives and Course Content: The objective of the course is to give a general introduction on all aspects of Indian nation – history, society, culture and achievements in economy, science and technology etc. with a view to help the local community to formulate and develop the right image of and perspectives on contemporary and emerging India. Especial attention shall be given to multi-faceted interaction and cooperation between India and Uzbekistan.
     
    The participants who will regularly attend the lectures shall be awarded Diplomas at the end of the Course.  Towards the end of the Course a quiz and essay writing competition will be held.  A few deserving candidates will be considered for fellowships under ITEC (Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation) scheme.  In the assessment of the candidates due weight will also be given to the level and quality of their participation in the discussions that will follow all the lectures. Students/scholars already selected for the ICCR and ITEC fellowships are expected to attend the classes as an orientation course before leaving for India.
     
    Course Coordinators:  
    Faculty: The distinguished faculty includes both Indian and Uzbek scholars, experts as well as acting and former diplomats. The Course will be inaugurated with  keynote address by Mr. K.D. Dewal, Charge d’Affaires of India in Uzbekistan. The other prominent speakers will include former Ambassadors of Uzbekistan to India and other countries: Ambassador Surat Mirkasymov, Ambassador Ibragim Mavlanov, distinguished Professors and scholars: Prof. Azad Shamatov, Prof. Nazokat Kasymova, Dr. Jyotsna Bakshi, Dr. Kh. Begizova, Dr. Bakhtiyor Abidov, Dr. Ravshan Alimov, Dr. Ulugbeck Khasanov, Mr.  Murod Ismailov and Ms. Sojida Urazboeva. Among the eminent members of the Indian community, who will address the participants will be Mr. S.S. Panicker (SS Com. and HOC, Embassy of India), Mr. Bhargav Mitra (SS, Consular, Embassy of India), Dr. Gopal Poojary, Dr. Ranjana Sarkar (LBSCIC), Mrs. Raji Panicker and Mrs. Rupa Bhattacharya.
