      Yoga

     

    Yoga is not a merely a system of physical exercise but a complete way of life.

     

    It helps man to remain healthy in any adverse condition and to retain his mental balance in any difficult situation.

     

    Yoga is an art and takes into consideration mind body and soul together. The body must be purified and strengthen through various Yogic practices. The mind must be cleaned of all gross and soul should turn inwards. If a man should become yogic adapt human mind is a vehicle for journeying in this life. It must be kept in proper form if the mind should function well.

     

    Yoga is an ancient system of philosophy. There are many forms of yoga, namely:

    • Hatha yoga,
    • Asthma yoga and etc.

    ‘Message of Yoga’    

              

    “Yoga has a complete message for humanity. It has a message for the human body. It has a message for the human mind and it has also a message for the human soul. Will intelligent and capable youth come forth to carry this message to every individual, not only in India but also in every other part of the world?”

    Any individual, whether a man or a woman, might have started developing any of the following list of the diseases by the age of 35 due to a stressful life style:

    Yoga classes conducted in LBSCIC

    Yoga classes are conducted in LBSCIC everyday (except Saturday and Sunday) at

       * 8:30 to 9:45 am, 
       * 10:00 to 11:15 am,
           (11:30 to 12:30 Yoga Demonstrations & Certificate Course in Yoga) and 
       * 17:00 to 18:30.

    The FIRST FRIDAY of every month new batch is started and we conduct lecture on yoga. For details and Applications Forms contact the Office of Lal Bahadur Shastri Centre for Indian Culture during working time.

    Conducts the following courses in Yoga

    CERTIFICATE IN YOGA.

    Elementary knowledge for the beginners, certificate will be provided after successfully completing the course. The duration of the course is six months.

    SYLLABUS

    PRESCRIBED FOR THE CERTIFICATE IN YOGA

    THEORY

    • Yoga: An introduction.
    • Definition of Yoga.  
    • Salient features of Yoga.   
    • Types of Yoga: Astang Yoga, Hatha Yoga.
    • General characteristics of yogic practices.
    • What is Health?
    • General introduction of Anatomy and Physiology.
    • Difference between Yogabhyas and Physical Exercises.

     PRACTICAL

    ·      Asanas: Uttanpadasan, Bhujangasan, Vajarasana, Sputa-Vajarasana, Yoga- Mudra, Ustrasana, Viparitkarni, Matsyasans, Halasana, Shaabhasana, Naukasana, Vakrasana, Janushirshasana, Paschimothanasana, Sidebending-Chakrasana, Tadasana, Vrukshasana, Garudasana, Padhastasana, Konasana, Trikonasana, Shavasana, Makarasana, Simha-Mudra, Dhanurasana.

    ·         Shudhi- Kriya:  1) Kapalbhati

    ·         Pranayama:  1) Anuloma- Viloma 2) Bhramari.

    ·         Meditation.

    DIPLOMA IN YOGA

           Those students who wish to continue their study in Yoga after completing certificate course in Yoga, they should join ‘’DIPLOMA IN YOGA”, Certificate will be provided after successfully completing the course. The duration of course is 1 years.

    PRESCRIBED FOR THE ‘’DIPLOMA IN YOGA”

    THEORY

    ·         Elementary knowledge of the following systems:

    1)       Skeletal system.

    2)       Muscular system.

    3)       Respiratory system.

    4)       Circulatory system.

       5)   Digestive system.

    ·         Yoga an Introduction.

    ·         Types of Yoga:

    1) Japa Yoga.

    2) Karma Yoga.

    3) Gyana yoga.

    4) Bhakti Yoga.

    5) Raja Yoga.

    ·         Introduction of Pranayama.

    ·         Deep breathing & Pranayama.

    ·         Introduction of Meditation.

    ·         Introduction of Kriya, Bandha, Mudra.

    ·         Back-care through Yoga.

    PRACTICAL

     

    ·       Asana:  Bhujangasan, Halasana, Shalabhasana, Sputa-Vajarasana, Yoga-Mudra, Ustrasana Matsyasans, Naukasana, Paschimothanasana, Sarvangasana Ugrasana, Hanumanasana, Vrukshasana, Garudasana, Pada-Hastasana, Shavasana, Makarasana, Simha-Mudra. Matsyendrasana, Shirshsana, Mayurasana, Akarna-Dhanurasana, Chakarasana, Badha-Gomukhasana, Badha-Padmasana,

         Kukkutasana, Tolangulasana, Danurasana.

    ·      Pranayama:    Anuloma – Viloma, Surya – Bhedan, Ujjayi, Bhastrika, Sitkari.

    ·      Bandha:  Uddiyana-Bandha, Moola-Bandha, Simha-Mudra, Jivha-Bandh,

         Brahma-Mudra, Jalandhar-Bandha.

    ·     Meditation.
